Govt Is Latest to Kick BlackBerry to the Curb

But it will keep back up Blackberry cellular phones gadgets for some time

The U.S. army is ending its unique dependency on Research in Motion‘s (NASDAQ:RIMM) Blackberry cellular phones cell phone gadgets. The other day, the Protection Division opened bidding for protection application to back up Apple‘s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone and cellular phones running Google‘s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android os operating system, Reuters noted.

Nor is the Govt the only U.S. government organization opting to dump its unique relationship with RIM. The other day, the U.S. Immigration and Client Enforcement Agency replaced its Blackberries with iPhones.

While the army is preparing to include iPhones and Android os cellular phones in its service, it won’t be throwing Blackberry cellular phones completely. Protection Division authorities said the army would keep back up Blackberry cellular phones gadgets for the future.

The Govt has been a reliable customer for RIM for years, choosing Blackberry cellular phones gadgets over competing items due to protection concerns. However, competing gadgets have increased their protection and many authorities are looking for items with bigger touchscreens.

Proposals are being requested for a one-year contract on application that can manage a minimum of 162,500 cell phone gadgets. However, that will eventually be extended to protect eight million cellular phones and pills.

Despite the bad news from the U.S. government, RIM shares hopped about 9% on word that its much-anticipated, but long-delayed Blackberry cellular phones 10 phone has joined wireless carrier network testing.
